Fridays are really flying by. And it’s already that time of the week, with the c3 PR team pulling together all the key information you need to know about the world of PR from the 5th to 9th of July.

Here are some dates you might want to take note of, from Plastic Free July to the upcoming England Euro 2020 matches, alongside Halifax’s July house price index.

PLASTIC FREE JULY

Run by the Plastic Free Foundation, Plastic Free July is a key initiative that aims to sensitise and inform people regarding plastic waste.

Perhaps you have a health-related client who could offer top tips on reducing your carbon footprint, or the best ways to recycle certain products with tricky packaging. There is also the opportunity for informational lifestyle campaigns. For instance, you could reimagine famous artwork using recyclable material or calculate how much plastic waste consumers generate due to fast fashion.

You can find out more information on the campaign here.

IT’S (INDEED) COMING HOME – EURO 2020

On Tuesday, England won against Germany after 55 years and the team has officially reached the Euro 2020 quarter final. England is now a favourite for Euro 2020, with bookies slashing the odds on football coming home this summer.

This would be a great opportunity for those in the sport and betting industries, as you can offer some commentary on England’s odds. Alternatively, you might want to launch a campaign looking at the most valuable football shirts of UEFA history, to even rankings across the highest-paid Euro 2020 players.

NEW SEASON OF LOVE ISLAND – ONGOING

It’s back and whether you’re a fan or not, Love Island will be dominating conversations this summer; it’s quite inescapable!

Whether your client is in the retail or beauty industry, the hit show offers plenty of opportunities for any brand that wants to target audiences who are watching Love Island.

As the show airs every night and the information (alongside the drama) is never ending, the best approach would be newsjacking pieces. Why not look into how much islanders earn on Instagram or partner with a body language expert to reveal which couple will, possibly, win the show? This is the content that will spread like wildfire!

NATIONAL BBQ WEEK(s) – 5TH TO 18TH JULY

Yes, there is a day for that! To be exact, this is a two-week celebration of sizzling burgers, hot dogs or meat-free patties on the barbeque while soaking up the sun.

This year, we’ll be celebrating a Quarter Century of Better British BBQ’ing. This offers a plethora of opportunities for businesses in the food and drink industry. Perhaps you could offer insight on the best al fresco dining set up on how to repurpose your leftovers or even ways you could get your garden BBQ ready.

HALIFAX HOUSE PRICE INDEX – 7TH JULY

With the price of housing in the UK constantly rising, this pricing index by Halifax is one to keep an eye out for.

With annual house price inflation being at its strongest level in nearly seven years, this report can be a great newsjacking opportunity for home, mortgage and equity clients.

The full report can be found here.

NATIONAL DOUGHNUT WEEK – 10TH – 18TH JULY

Doughnuts, in all their circular perfection, deserve a week-long celebration. Whether you like them filled with jelly, glazed or topped with chocolate frosting, this is the time of the year to celebrate.

This national celebration is raising vital funds for The Children’s Trust. This is perfect for some reactive opportunities in the food and drink industry, as brands can create fundraisers to help raise money for the charity. Click here to find everything you need to know.
