SAFER INTERNET DAY – 8TH OF FEBRUARY 

With the slogan, “All fun and games?’ Exploring respect and relationships online”, Safer Internet Day aims to create a safe environment, where online users can learn, create content or interact with their friends and peers.  

Safer Internet Day is celebrated each year on the 8th of February and promotes the safe and positive use of digital technology. As well as being a good cause to support regardless of your PR outreach, this could be a great opportunity for those of you in tech or business industries.

NATIONAL PIZZA DAY – 9th OF FEBRUARY 

Whether it’s topped with pepperoni or vegan sausage, there’s a lot to appreciate and love about this round piece of dough. That’s why February 9th is the most exciting time for pizza fans; people around the world come together to celebrate National Pizza Day!  

This is a great opportunity for clients from the hospitality, food and drink industries, but even for non-pizza related brands. For instance, gaming, sports, tech and entertainment clients can touch on this national celebration.

HALIFAX HOUSE PRICE INDEX – 9TH OF FEBRUARY 

A newsjacking favourite – the Halifax house price index. And this is a great opportunity for any client in the property and financial industry. 

Despite experiencing some of the most economically turbulent years recently for the housing market, the monthly HPI is so useful. Because it’s the perfect chance to offer some expert commentary and get your client out there!

GDP FIRST QUARTERLY ESTIMATE: OCTOBER-DECEMBER 2021 TO THE 11TH  OF FEBRUARY 

Released by ONS on Friday the 11th of February, this report will reveal data regarding the first quarterly estimate of gross domestic product. This contains current and constant price data on the value of goods and services to indicate the economic performance of the UK. 

This is a great newsjacking opportunity for finance-related clients, so just be sure to get your comments out quick…

WORDLE SUBSCRIPTION – TBA 

As recently as a few days ago, the hit word game Wordle was sold to the New York Times. And rumour has it that it may not be free to play in the near future…. The New York Times state that Wordle will, “initially remain free for existing players’’. However, the company already provide games including Spelling Bee, Letter Boxed, Tiles and Vertex – all of which are behind a paywall. 

The Wordle craze has created a lot of creative opportunities for brands to jump on because it creates a simple, yet effective visual that all users recognise. This is a great opportunity for brands from the tech or education industries to comment on the news and perhaps even offer their own spin on the Wordle of the day.
