Decodo (formerly Smartproxy) is a leading web data collection provider, offering 125M+ ethically-sourced IPs across 195+ locations, multiple proxy types, a versatile Web Scraping API, and complimentary tools, giving users confidence in their web data collection and AI-driven projects.
Decodo operates in a niche market, focusing on topics that aren’t widely understood. We set out to turn complex datasets into clear insights that resonate with both consumers and business leaders in the UK and US markets.
The brief to Connective3 was to elevate Decodo’s brand awareness and authority in the UK and US, establishing it as the go-to provider of AI-ready proxy and scraping solutions, while driving traffic to its tools and resources through earned media and high-quality backlinks.
We executed a data-driven, multimarket strategy centered on e-commerce talking points. This involved:
Dynamic pricing campaign
For this campaign, we leveraged primary data collected first-hand from Decodo.
Decodo regularly publishes reports on dynamic pricing – a strategy businesses use that affects consumers. Leveraging their Web Scraping API and ethically-sourced proxies, the company monitors over 120 e-commerce stores around the globe and releases their annual Dynamic Pricing Index. We leveraged these insights to craft press releases on topics such as the e-commerce brands changing prices most frequently, the optimal days and times for consumers to buy, and the shopping categories most affected by price fluctuations. These angles enabled us to tailor our outreach around key sales events, like Black Friday and New Year’s Sales.

Digital squatting campaign
For this campaign, we used third-party data to create stories featuring commentary from our internal experts.
We highlighted an increasingly common challenge for large businesses: the creation of fake domains used for resale or to scam consumers. Using third-party data, we created angles on the companies most affected, the prevalent forms of digital squatting, and the financial impact on businesses.
Reactive PR
Our always-on approach to trends enabled us to connect topics like dynamic pricing with current news, such as US lawmakers beginning to crack down on the practice. By combining these developments with Decodo’s data and expert commentary, we kept the brand timely and relevant.
- Coverage: The Sun, AsianTrader, Inkl.
In building strong journalist relationships, we kept Decodo top of mind on dynamic pricing and key sales events, resulting in repeated coverage in tier-one outlets like The Telegraph and The Sun.
