Next week, students up and down the country will be preparing for freshers’ week and the start of university. Whereas fashion lovers will look toward London Fashion Week, and we’ll wave goodbye to summer and welcome the start of autumn.
So, here’s everything going on between the 18th and the 25th of September to use for newsjacking and your PR campaigns!
LONDON FASHION WEEK – 16TH SEPTEMBER-21St OF SEPTEMBER
This is the first LFW since the pandemic began, that will take place with virtually no restrictions. Showcasing looks for spring/summer 2022, the event this year will also be completely gender–neutral.
Expect lots of street style, celebrity sightings and most importantly, newsjacking opportunities for any of your fashion or retail clients. You can find out more about the schedule and individual shows/events, here.
START OF AUTUMN – 22ND OF SEPTEMBER
That’s right, summer is officially over (if you’re reading this after Wednesday!). It’s time to get the big coats out and say hello to pumpkin spiced lattes, Halloween, and darker evenings.
And the start of autumn is perfect for sharing any recipe content inspiration or product placement opportunities for lifestyle brands. You can read more about the start of Autumn on the Met Office, here.
NATIONAL FITNESS DAY – 22nd OF SEPTEMBER
National Fitness Day takes place on Wednesday the 22nd of September, and aims to promote a healthy and active lifestyle for everyone to follow.
This could be the perfect opportunity to share any health and fitness–related content, or to provide tips if you work with a company that has a relevant expert in the field.
MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING – 24th OF SEPTEMBER
The official date for the Macmillan ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ is Friday the 24th of September. However, you can host one of their coffee mornings at any time to raise money (and awareness).
The official hashtag for the day is #MacmillanCoffeeMorning, so you can share your images with the wider community that are also taking part. You can sign up or read more information about the day, here.
FRESHERS WEEK/STUDENTS GO BACK TO UNIVERSITY – FROM THE 18th OF SEPTEMBER
Whether heading to university for the first time or returning for a second or third year, this period will be the closest students have got to a normal university experience in over 18 months.
Most freshers’ weeks are taking place from this weekend in cities like Leeds, Newcastle, and Liverpool. And so, this is the perfect opportunity for brands to share any helpful advice or tips for people that are maybe living on their own for the first time.
Hopefully, the above will help to spark some inspiration for planning content, social, or PR activity over the next week. Want to learn more about our PR work? Head over to our PR page, here and get in touch!
