As a famous one-hit-wonder songwriter once wrote, “It’s Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday”. So, shall we get down to what’s coming up in the world of Digital PR next week?

There might be something particularly big coming up next week you don’t know about. And no, we don’t mean the holiday that you’ve been outreaching about for weeks…

Aside from the return of Mr. Claus, here are some reactive opportunities you can get involved with next week.

TUESDAY the 21st OF DECEMBER, WINTER SOLSTICE

Simon and Garfunkel’s “Goodbye darkness, my old friend” lyrics play as we write this. Next Tuesday marks the shortest day of the year, and thus the start of lighter nights – which means we’re one step closer to summer.

From lifestyle to health and HR, this pivotal time of the year can be spun to suit many PR focuses. Perhaps you have some data on happiness levels or productivity due to light levels that you can reangle?

TUESDAY the 22ND OF DECEMBER, EMILY IN PARIS RELEASE

Grab your berets, because the most unrealistic portrayal of working a marketing job in Paris is back! But what the show lacks in realism, it makes up for in binge-worthy drama and even binge-worthier outfits.

If you’re a fashion PR, this show is an obvious pop-culture release to jump on, or for travel PRs perhaps you can look at the searches for Parisian holidays following the launch of the show.

TUESDAY the  22ND OF DECEMBER, MATRIX: RESURRECTION RELEASE

Now we’re going from Emily in Paris to The Matrix… The Matrix series returns for the long-awaited fourth movie. Debates are still ongoing as to whether the trilogy should have been left alone, but the point is we get to see Keanu Reeves back on our screens as leather-clad Neo.

Considering how influential the movie was in so many aspects of culture, there are also SO many avenues you can go down with PR.

The obvious choice for fashion PRs would be to look at search trends or internal data for the sales of leather coats. Or for the tech PRs looking at the sales of VR to see just how many people would take the blue pill.

And for entertainment PRs, social listening is your friend if you’re looking to draw up a quick reaction to the movie, or characters.

TUESDAY the 22ND OF DECEMBER, CAR PRODUCTION FIGURES (UK)

As the car production figures pull in on the 23rd of December, this is a perfect newsjacking opportunity for those working with automotive brands.

Make sure you are up bright and early, as figures are released at 9 AM here.

THURSDAY the 24TH OF DECEMBER, NATIONAL EGGNOG DAY (US)

It might be Christmas Eve, but it’s also National Eggnog Day which means it is perfect for food PRs to get their best recipes out.

Be as creative as you like for this one – but remember if you are outreaching recipes to always check the publication accepts them from PRs.

FRIDAY the 25TH OF DECEMBER, CHRISTMAS DAY

Now for a day that you might not be on your radar, which you definitely have not been outreaching for the past couple of months. That’s right – it’s Christmas Day people!

The biggest day in the PR calendar is incoming, so make sure you send out your last-minute follow-ups by Monday. From DIY hacks to food recipes to office parties, make sure you get the optimal number of links from your Christmassy campaigns.

SATURDAY the 26TH OF DECEMBER, BOXING DAY

And the holidays don’t stop there. Boxing Day, for some, marks a day spent with family and friends. Although for many the world “sales” may be on the brain.

This is a great opportunity for lifestyle or food PRs, if we are looking at the day in a traditional sense. Or if you work with a technology or internet brand, perhaps you can look at website traffic to pull some interesting shopping stats.

We hope that you found this useful when considering your content for the week ahead. If you would like to see more of our work, please head over to our PR page.
